Professional Dance Theatre Training by Force Majeure
13-17 January 2020
Force Majeure’s INCITE Youth program is returning in January 2020 for performers aged 14 – 18 years with an interest in dance, theatre and performance making who aspire to be a professional artist.
The program will run for a week in the January 2020 school holidays, over 13 – 17 January, presented in partnership with Carriageworks and supported by Create NSW.
The program has been developed by our Artistic Director, Danielle Micich, to provide an introduction to dance theatre making, including developing skills in devising, and learning how to work with a director in a professional rehearsal environment. The program will feature tasks linking to the HSC Dance, Drama and Physical Theatre Curriculums and the week will culminate in a sharing open to family and invited guests.
After many years of experience as a maker, performer, director and mentor, Danielle Micich has spent the last four years developing an extensive industry-leading professional training program – INCITE. The program provides artists with the requisite tools to develop their practice and hone their creation process as dance theatre makers. INCITE Youth is an exciting new addition to this program, providing young people access to industry-standard training to support their future career ambitions.
INCITE Youth program offers a rare opportunity for students to work with one of Australia’s leading dance theatre organisations, creating professional pathways for young people into the dance industry.
The one-week intensive program will include:
Daily physical warm-up and vocal training
Developing movement improvisation
Creating individual and group choreography
Combining movement with text
Feedback from Force Majeure Artistic Director
A sharing for invited guests
INCITE Youth is best suited to young people aged 14-18 that have:
A passionate interest in pursuing a career as a professional artist
Demonstrated commitment to their dance and or drama
A creative flair
An openness to learning and trying new things
