New Performance Venture at Manly’s North Head

Discover Sydney’s newest unique outdoor venue set under the stars, The Barracks, North Head, Manly. For one month only from 24 February to 27 March 2022 audiences will be transported by the exceptional artistry of Australia’s biggest names in music, theatre, ballet, dance, rock, opera and jazz set in an exciting world of adventure and history.   Be among the first to experience this diverse and inspiring concert series in a truly magnificent Manly setting.  Night at the Barracks, North Head, will take your breath away.

Featuring Caroline O’Connor, James Morrison Big Band, Sydney Dance Company, Australian Rock Collective, The Tap Pack, David Hobson, John Foreman and the Aussie Pops Orchestra, and Queensland Ballet.

The Barracks on North Head is a historically significant and treasured space on the doorstep of Sydney that will have a new lease of life in Autumn this year with the announcement of this all-star concert series over 20 nights.

Organisers say the event, the first of its kind in this open performance space, will provide employment to more than 650 performers and event professionals.  They are working closely with local businesses, including hospitality, transport, and tourism providers, to bring money into the Beaches’ economy.

The event is supported by the federal government RISE Fund, Destination NSW and Northern Beaches Council. This unique series of concerts presents an opportunity to generate income that can be used to maintain and repair the site. To create jobs and income for the Arts and Entertainment industry which has been dramatically affected by COVID-19 and to respect the history and environmental preciousness of the site.

Caroline O’Connor – My Musical Life

MY MUSICAL LIFE is a look back through the international career of Australia’s leading female triple threat performer, Caroline O’Connor.  The show will take you on a journey through songs from Music Theatre productions in which Caroline has starred in Australia, London’s West End, Paris and New York City’s Broadway.  To name just a few, Chicago, West Side Story, Anything Goes and the International hit film Moulin Rouge. Caroline O’Connor under the Stars at North Head will be a night not to miss.

James Morrison Motown Experience

The legendary James Morrison, accompanied by his talented band, will blow you away with an unforgettable and entertaining Motown experience.  This feel-good evening will get you on your feet and includes four soulful voices, a pumping rhythm section and some smouldering horns lead by the incomparable James Morrison.  Songs include hits from James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and all the Motown greats.

Australian Rock Collective Celebrates The Beatles “Let It be” Album 50th Anniversary

Following two sold-out tours of The Beatles’ Abbey Road Live in 2019/20, The Australian Rock Collective (ARC) are returning in 2021 to present the final Beatles album in all its glory – Let It Be, marking the 50th Anniversary.  ARC, comprised of Kram (Spiderbait), Darren Middleton (Powderfinger) Mark Wilson (Jet) and Davey Lane (You Am I) are self-confessed Beatles tragics, playing Let It Be from start to finish – followed by a second set of favourites spanning the breadth of the Beatles’ catalogue.

Australia’s hottest tap dance sensation, THE TAP PACK are bringing their high energy, tap comedy show to Night at The Barracks, North Head.  THE TAP PACK conjure up a modern twist to the crooners and artists from the 50s through to the noughties!  Featuring songs from Sinatra, Dean Martin & Sammy Davis Jr to Sheeran, Bublé and Beyonce, THE TAP PACK mix slick humour, high energy entertainment and world class tap dance.   Armed with their lovable on-stage larrikinisms, they sing – they dance – they joke!  They bring a new, invigorating energy to a timeless style that the whole family can enjoy.  Dressed in slick suits and equipped with sharp wit, THE TAP PACK is “old school cool” from the new kings of swing.

Australia’s powerhouse legends of Opera and Musical Theatre, DAVID HOBSON unite with a spellbinding 45-piece orchestra, led by renowned conductor JOHN FOREMAN for an all-new show at NIGHT AT THE BARRACKS, NORTH HEAD.  Long-time friends and touring cohorts Marina and David will bring an unrivalled depth of repertoire to perform classics from productions such as Phantom Of The Opera, Cats, Evita, Les Miserables, West Side Story, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, La Boheme, Granada, L’elisir d’amore (Una Furtiva Laguma), Tosca (E Lucevan Le Stelle), Rigoletto (La Donna e mobile), the Merry Widow and La Traviata (Libiamo) & more. In an enticing exploration of classical ballet and contemporary works, Queensland Ballet comes alive on stage to reignite the audience’s passion for dance with a high energy, dynamic and emotional performance.  Showcasing a vision of Queensland Ballet’s future, our gifted Jette Parker Young Artists will join featured Company dancers to delight in breath-taking pieces including the energetic Don Quixote Wedding Pas de Deux, Greg Horsman’s classical masterpieces Raymonda Pas Classique and vibrant Bluebird Pas de Deux from The Sleeping Beauty and, a new contemporary work by Resident Choreographer Natalie Weir.  This performance of precision, prowess and promise is not to be missed.

James Morrison is renowned as one of the finest jazz players Australia has ever produced.
