Green Room Awards Move Online

2020 Green Room Awards Presentation to be Live Streamed

Monday April 6 from 7pm

Like organisations everywhere, technology is being utilised during the COVID19 crisis to take events online.

“Out of adversity comes innovation,” states the Green Room Awards Association as they have announced that this year’s presentation will take place live online, replacing the previously scheduled live event to be held at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre on March 30.

The live-streamed awards will still be hosted by by Otto & Astrid, Berlin’s (self-appointed) Prince and Princess of Art Rock and Europop, and the nominees and winners will be announced by esteemed actor Rob Meldrum via a series of YouTube clips.

The Green Room Awards honours the excellence and innovation across the dynamic performing arts sector in Melbourne, and is now in its 37th year.

You are invited to join in to watch and to celebrate and collectively applaud the outstanding work created in 2019 on Melbourne stages.

The Association’s President, Hilary Glow, said: “In light of efforts to slow the COVID-19 virus and the recent ban on non-essential gatherings of over 500 people, the Green Room Awards ceremony will sadly not go ahead at the Comedy Theatre on Monday 30 March 2020.

“To ensure that artists, supporters and audiences can celebrate the outstanding work presented during 2019, we are instead working on a virtual ceremony. We will be back in touch with further details of the virtual Green Room Awards celebration and ceremony shortly.

“If you have already bought tickets, you will shortly be contacted by Ticketmaster to arrange a refund. If you are in a position to do so, please consider donating the refunded amount to the Green Room Awards to help support our costs. You can do so by clicking here:“.

You can watch the 2020 Green Room Online Awards Presentation via their website from 7pm on 6 April 2020.
