March Dance 2020

Independent Dance Festival Returns to Sydney

Applications for Residencies and Events Due Dec 6

After its successful premiere this year, March Dance will return in 2020 to bring together the diversity of ongoing independent dance practice in Sydney; and thereby opening these activities to a wider audience.

The month-long festival in 2019 saw over 60 dance events over 31 days by 9 companies and 50 artists in the form of new dance works, workshops, dance classes, residencies, sharings, screenings, forums and talks. Showcasing dance artists and organisations in a range of spaces and contexts.

March Dance is a project of Independent Dance Alliance (IDA) a collaboration between Critical Path, DirtyFeet and Readymade Works who have joined forces with other companies and organisations to facilitate artists’ participation in this month-long dance festival, celebrating the culture of independent dance in Sydney. Now, the organisers are calling for submissions for next year’s events in the form of either in-kind space residencies or projects.

March Dance is seeking applications from artists for residencies to make new work, continue the development of work, continue their practice and craft, hold a workshop and or host informal showings. You are invited to apply for 1 day in-kind space or up to 1-2 weeks in one of the City of Sydney’s venues.

Applications due 6 December 2019.
