DanceLife ventured out to Oxford Art Factory in Sydney last night to watch Vanessa Amorosi’s first Sydney show. The show was meant to start at 8pm but started late as both Vanessa and support act Michael Paynter’s flights were delayed from Melbourne. I haven’t been to the Oxford Art Factory before. It had a great intimate feel yet there was enough room to move and of course dance.
Michael Paynter kicked off the night. Michael is a young, up and coming artist from SonyBMG. You would have heard his new hit Closer on the promos for Channel Seven’s second season of City Homicide. Michael and his band played a number of songs from his debut album, each one showcasing his strong singing and song writing skills. After the show we had a chat with Michael and a few of his band mates. Michael was down to earth and very passionate about his music. Definitely keep your ears and eyes out… I’m predicting you will be hearing a lot more from Michael Paynter. To find out more about Michael or to download ‘Closer’ visit www.michaelpaynter.com.
Next it was time for the girl we had all been waiting for… VANESSA. From the moment she stepped onto the stage she had the crowd captivated. The opening number ‘I Thought We’d Stay Together’ prepared the audience for what was going to be an energetic performance filled with amazing singing and equally amazing songs. Song after song Vanessa reminded everyone why we loved her back when she was singing Absolutley Everybody which she sang and made the crowd go crazy. Vanessa will be taking the show on the round nationally. Check out the events page for more details. Vanessa’s new ablum ‘Somewhere In The Real World’ is out now.
