This will be Twisted Element Dance Company’s opening season and with this they intend to make a mark on the Sydney dance scene, and set a new platform for innovative and cutting-edge dance.
Twisted Element was created by Angela Hamilton Hill who began her dance journey at the age of 12 at Byron School of Dance, Byron Bay. After three years of training she was obsessed with dance and set off by her self to further her training in Sydney, where she attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, Brent Street Studios and Academy Ballet until she was 17.
In 2005 Angela focused her training towards Classical Ballet and Contemporary, undertaking a full-time Ballet Program at Brent Street Studios under the direction of Christeine Kieth, Sarah Boulter and Kim Traynor.
In 2006 Angela was accepted into the National Theatre Ballet School in Melbourne, where she trained intensively in Classical Ballet. In 2007 Directors of City Dance Centre Mary Renoulf and Adrian Fryer took Angela under their wing, nurturing and encouraging her towards an overseas trip in 2008. The 5 month solo journey took her through most of Western Europe as well as New York, where she attended classes and workshops with some of the most reputable Dance Companies and Choreographers in the world including Nederlands Dans Theater; Netherlands, Compagnia Nacional de Danza; Madrid, Complexions Contemporary Ballet; NYC, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet; NYC and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre; NYC plus intensive classes at Dance New Amsterdam; NYC, Steps; NYC and Pineapple Studios; London.
Since returning to Australia in 2008, Angela has based herself in Sydney where she has worked with Dirty Feet Dance Company, danced at festivals and exhibitions and has also established herself as e reputable teacher.
After founding Twisted Element in early 2010, which has been a lifelong dream of Angela’s, she has been commissioned to choreograph and perform for various different events and is now becoming sought after for her unique and eclectic style.
Angela’s inspiration comes from a deep connection to spirituality, music, colour and energy. She draws her creative ideas from her array of life experience. Her motivation comes from the desire to inspire people to take themselves and their imagination out of the box and beyond themselves.
