The Australian Ballet Brings the Stage to the Screen

The Australian Ballet

2025 Livestream Program

The Australian Ballet is excited to announce its 2025 Livestream program, offering ballet lovers around the world the chance to experience the magic of world-class performances from the Sydney Opera House – no matter where they are.

Building on the success of previous livestreamed performances, the Company is once again broadening its reach, connecting audiences from regional Australia to international viewers.

Following rave reviews and captivated audiences during its recent Melbourne season, John Neumeier’s Nijinsky will be streamed live on Tuesday 22 April, delivering a powerful tribute to the iconic dancer and choreographer. This performance will be available exclusively to audiences in Australia and New Zealand.

David McAllister’s magical production of The Sleeping Beauty will also be available via livestream on Tuesday 16 December, transporting audiences into a fairytale world filled with grand sets, opulent costumes, and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score. This performance will be available to audiences worldwide.

The Australian Ballet’s livestreams offer more than just a performance, they provide an immersive experience, with exclusive behind-the-scenes content, including backstage interviews with dancers, creatives, and production crew. This rare glimpse into the artistry and craftsmanship behind each production enriches the viewer’s connection to the performance.

These high-definition livestreams can be enjoyed on computers, tablets, and mobile phones, with the option to cast to larger screens. Performances will also be available on-demand for 14 days following the livestream, allowing audiences to watch at their convenience.

In 2024, audiences worldwide tuned in to experience landmark productions such as Christopher Wheeldon’s Oscar® and Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker. As Australia’s national ballet company, The Australian Ballet extended its reach across the country, including regional areas, and captivated viewers from America, the United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand, and beyond.

The Australian Ballet’s Artistic Director, David Hallberg said: “We are thrilled to continue our livestream program in 2025, bringing the power and elegance of ballet to more people than ever.
“In our year of bold storytelling, these productions showcase the depth of our repertoire, from the emotional intensity of Nijinsky to the enchanting magic of The Sleeping Beauty.”
