Melbourne City Ballets J.E.A.P.

Audition for MCB’s Junior Elite Interstate Artist Program

Closes 12th February

Melbourne City Ballet‘s Junior Elite Artists Program (JEAP) is designed for young artists from outside Victoria who are unable to attend our Elite Training courses due to their proximity, education or age. JEAP provides the opportunity to gain experience training with Melbourne City Ballet’s Artistic Staff despite their location of residence.
As a regional touring company, MCB visits many communities each year who do not have access to elite training options and have developed this particular course as a means to provide this exposure to these young dancers.
The program allows young dancers to come join Melbourne City Ballet for two weeks each term (usually allocated for the last two weeks except where due to young artist’s academic institutions requiring this to be otherwise timed) where they receive training alongside our Elite Full Time Artist Program.
The course is designed as a stepping stone into part or full time training, giving young artists a greater understanding of the training methods of Melbourne City Ballet whilst allowing our Artistic Staff the opportunity to see and develop talent from outside metropolitan Melbourne. The classes include classical, contemporary, pas de deux, pointe, masculine technique & delivery, repertoire, technical development and Pilates.
Each term will end with a performance alongside Melbourne City Ballet’s Elite and MICA (Melbourne Institute of Classical Arts) students.
As part of their visit each term, the JEAP students have the opportunity to watch a Melbourne City Ballet professional level class and rehearsals for the current production at the time.
Auditions for the program can be done by DVD with footage from a class and small prepared solo with the attached audition form. Footage can be sent to admin@melbournecityballet.com.au
