International Competition for Young Dancers
From 7 to 12 July, Lausanne will welcome 59 young dancers from 20 countries for the European and International Preselection: a week of intensive training and coaching, culminating in the selection of up to four candidates for the Prix de Lausanne 2026. For the first time, participants will perform on the stage of the Beaulieu Theatre, renowned for launching the careers of legendary dancers. To mark this occasion, the Prix de Lausanne invites the public to an Open House on Saturday, 12 July 2025.

The week-long Summer Intensive – European & International Preselection of the Prix de Lausanne will return to the city of Lausanne this year and, for the first time, take place on the historic stage of the Beaulieu Theatre, where many renowned dancers began their international careers.
To mark the occasion, the Prix de Lausanne is pleased to invite the public to an Open House on Saturday, 12 July, for the final step of the preselection, held at the Beaulieu Theatre.
A unique opportunity to discover these young talents on stage, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The awards ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM.
Dancers from Switzerland and worldwide
Following the audition process, 64 young dancers were selected to participate in the Summer Intensive – European and International Preselection.
After five cancellations, 59 young dancers will attend the Preselection, representing a total of 20 nationalities, including 13 from Europe. Switzerland will be represented by 5 dancers. Among European countries, France and Italy have the highest number of participants, with 10 and 5 respectively. Additionally, 5 non-European countries are represented, with Japan and the United States leading with 8 and 5 participants respectively.
Up to four participants may be awarded direct entry to the Prix de Lausanne 2026, which will take place from 1 to 8 February 2026 at Beaulieu Lausanne.
Internationally Renowned Instructors
The Summer Intensive offers a unique opportunity for each dancer to receive high-level training and personalised guidance from esteemed professionals, while gaining insight into the standards of the Prix de Lausanne.
- Cynthia Harvey (International Freelance Teacher, former Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre) will teach classical classes for girls.
- Nicolas Le Riche (Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Ballet, Étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet) will teach classical classes and coach classical variations for boys.
- Clairemarie Osta (Guest Teacher and Rehearsal Director, Étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet) will coach classical variations for girls.
- Didy Veldman (Contemporary Programme Manager at the Royal Ballet School, Freelance Choreographer and Teacher) will lead contemporary classes.
