Dancers Wanted

Opportunity for Dancers with DirtyFeet’s Choreographic Labs

Expressions of Interest Close July 20

DirtyFeet is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for all three of their Choreographic Labs in 2020. Work with emerging choreographers Alice Walker, Bonnie Curtis and Audrey Burden to help in developing their new dance works.

You can submit an application to join one, two or all three Labs with the choreographers in the studio as they figure out the very beginnings of their new ideas!

Each Choreographic Lab will be held at ReadyMade Works, Ultimo, Sydney.

Dancers must have a Bachelor of Dance or one year full-time dance accredited training or other demonstrated professional experience. The Choreographic Lab is free for all participants, however, all selected dancers must become members of DirtyFeet.

LAB A: Alice Walker
Dates: 10 – 21 August 2020
Times: Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri: 9am-5pm. Tues: 8am-2pm
A choreographic practice that explores the desire and disembodiment in everyday contemporary regiments. Rather than remedying, the process follows the inconsistencies of being bodily to absurd ends, highlighting that even in the most rigid structures, desire is always overflowing.

LAB B: Audrey Burden
Dates: 12 – 23 October 2020
Times: Monday to Friday: 12pm-5pm
In the darkness of bedrooms around the globe, parents are performing a unique and intimate dance. This duet is danced by an adult, informed by the baby in their arms. We explore the movement qualities that comfort and lull our smallest humans to sleep. What is the choreography of comfort?

LAB C: Bonnie Curtis
Dates: 9 – 20 November 2020
Times: Monday – Friday: 9am-4pm.
Bonnie will explore the physicality and experiences of the individual body. This choreographic lab will be used to research and dissect the limitations placed on our bodies by society and the individual.

Expressions of Interest close at midnight Monday 20 July.
