Professional Learning & Recognition for Dance Teachers

January 28 – 29 | Perth

The Australian Independent Dance Teachers Festival and Awards are on again in Perth in January 2017 celebrating our amazing dance teachers and industry from throughout 2016.
The event honours inspiring teachers and recognises their contributions to the dance profession vocation. Nominations are made independently and now covers teachers Australia-wide in their new national category. Nominations are open to anyone in Australia over 15 years and they can be a dance principal, teacher, parent, friend, dance student.

Awards to be presented over the weekend of January 28-29 in 2017 at the WAAPA in Perth at the conclusion of the Dance Teaching Festival.

Award Categories include:

  • Early childhood/Primary school
  • Secondary School
  • Adult Training
  • Studio Teachers
  • Community
  • Syllabus and Curriculum Research
  • Life Long services to dance teaching
What the awards will do:

  • Raise the profile of the dance teaching profession
  • Acknowledge high standards and excellence in dance teaching, training, special projects, charity work, longevity,
  • Celebrate dance teachers in the many facets and forms they teach in.

9.30-12.00: Secondary School Teacher Session: Scott Putman (USA) Choreography Shaping in Space. Yr 11/12 Dance Lisa Honczarenko (SCASA)
10.00-12.00: Primary School Teacher Session: Jane Andrewartha (VIC) Dance for Children
12.30: Key Note Presenter: Shona Erskine
1.00-6.00pm: A variety of  practical and theory workshops suitable for studio, secondary, primary, assistant teachers.
Sunday 29 January 2017
1.00- 3.00pm: Studio Teachers. An introduction to using the Laurel Martyn Dance System Preparatory Program- Jane Andrewartha (VIC)
1.00-3.00pm: Scott Putman (USA) Elemental Body Alignment System
