Another founding member of kids entertainment group Hi 5 has announced she’s leaving after a decade. Kellie Crawford (who originally joined the group as Kellie Hoggart) will take part in her final performance with Hi 5 will at Carols By Candlelight on Christmas Eve, the final; night in the groups current tour around the country . Over the past ten years Kellie has filmed over 400 episodes of the Hi-5 television series, recorded 11 CD’s and toured extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Asia as part of Hi-5, Crawford’s departure leaves Nathan Foley as the remaining original member of the group. Charli Delaney, was the most recent departure, retiring last year and subsequently carving out a career with the Seven Network as a judge on Battle Of The Choirs and a competitor on Dancing With The Stars. Crawford’s departure comes as the Hi 5 format is being set for international expansion by owners the Nine Network and Southern Star International. A UK-created Hi 5 goes to air today on pay TV pre-school service Cartoonito with 40 x half hour episodes. The British cast will be singing and dancing on Cartoonito on Sky channel, Monday to Friday at 8am, 11am and 3pm with the series set to launch on free to air TV on GMTV in April 2009. This British series has been produced by Southern Stars UK production subsidiary, Darrall Macqueen Productions in conjunction with Southern Star Entertainment and Nine Network Australia for Cartoonito. Of Crawford’s departure from Hi 5 here, Martin Hersov and Cathy Payne, directors of Hi-5 operations, said: “We say thanks to Kellie for the hard work, passion and dedication she’s shown during her time with Hi-5. We wish her great success in all her future endeavours.” SSI and Nine are now auditioning for new member of the Australian troupe.
