Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub

Activate is a brand-new program for emerging choreographers, physical theatre and performance practitioners in the Hunter region. The Activate program is the first of its kind. This program provides all participants with financial support to develop skills that are integral to their artistic career.

Activate brings to Newcastle professional artists, mentors, and industry leaders from diverse artistic disciplines together to network and create new works in the Hunter region. This program enriches and cultivates the development of emerging artists in Newcastle.

Activate is a year-long program that features:

  • A skills development intensive with Force Majeure’s Artistic Director: Danielle Micich,
  • Mentoring with leaders in contemporary dance including Kristina Chan & Jasmin Sheppard
  • Business development and grant writing workshops
  • Networking Events across the region with industry professionals,
  • First Nations cultural awareness and understanding with Critical Path’s first nations artist curator Jasmin Sheppard and
  • Supported Individual Residencies – including space, wages, mentoring and production support.

Catapult Dance Is a choreographic and multi-arts organisation that cultivates and champions professional contemporary dance practice, choreography, and multidisciplinary creation. They are the only professional dance and choreographic hub for mid-career & emerging choreographers, professional dancers & multi- disciplinary artists with strong programs for young people & the community in the region

to be an industry leader in the contemporary arts, simultaneously transforming Newcastle into a regional epicentre of professional dance, choreographic collaboration, and multi- disciplinary arts practice with regional, national, and international recognition.
