Aboriginal Dance Ensemble will have 300 students from Year 1 to 12 coming from all over regional NSW and Sydney

Earlier this year Bangarra Dance Theatre, in partnership with The Arts Unit, held a series of two day workshops across Sydney and regional NSW to identify talented Aboriginal students for inclusion in the NSW Public Schools Aboriginal Dance Company.
This featured group will perform alongside the larger Aboriginal Dance Ensemble to perform an adaptation of ‘Gapan’ in the Schools Spectacular. Students have had the opportunity to work with choreographers Sidney Saltner and Sonny Townsend. The 2012 Schools Spectacular will be held this Friday 23 and Saturday 24 November at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
In preparation for the Schools Spectacular several regional rehearsals have been held which will culminate with a combined rehearsal in Sydney at the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, Redfern on Wednesday 21 November.
Schools Spectacular is an epic production of music, song and dance, dazzling costumes and brilliant choreography that will captivate audiences of all ages. The line-up for the 2012 extravaganza boasts a 1,300-voice choir; 180 musicians; 2,000 dancers aged from 5 to 18; plus rock, jazz, brass and marching bands with featured soloists aged from 7 to 18 years.

Telstra, Principal Sponsor of the 2012 Schools Spectacular, is proud to continue its partnership with the NSW Department of Education & Communities
